Music Sessions for Adult Day Centres and Assisted Living Communities
My music sessions for adult day centres and assisted living communities are carefully planned with the service users in mind, creating inclusive, uplifting and engaging experiences where everybody is encouraged to participate in a way that feels comfortable for them.
Every group is completely unique, which is why no two sessions are ever the same. I take the time to get to know the individuals I work with and regularly build sessions around their interests, personalities and favourite music. For example, one group I visit absolutely loves Disney, so one session became a joyful Disney singalong around the piano filled with laughter, confidence and nostalgia.
Sessions combine live piano music, singing, movement, instruments, sensory props and interactive activities designed to encourage communication, creativity, confidence and connection. Some sessions are energetic and full of dancing and musical games, while others are calmer and more reflective. Everything is adapted in the moment to suit the needs, abilities and energy of the group.
One of the most rewarding parts of my work is seeing the growth in confidence over time. Adult day centre settings who book regular visits have noticed incredible changes in some service users — including individuals who were initially shy, quiet or reluctant to join in, but who now confidently sing in front of the whole group, take part in activities and actively engage with others during sessions.
Music has a wonderful way of bringing people together, sparking memories, encouraging self-expression and creating moments of genuine joy and achievement. My sessions are designed not only to entertain, but to help individuals feel seen, included, valued and confident.
As a qualified teacher with a first-class honours degree in music, I combine my educational background with my passion for music and wellbeing to create experiences that are meaningful, adaptable and truly person-centred.
Whether you are looking for regular sessions, themed experiences or a one-off musical visit, I would love to hear from you and discuss how Once Upon a Tune could support your setting.
