About Me – Hannah Cressey
Hello! I’m Hannah — the founder of Once Upon a Tune.
I’m a vocalist and classically trained pianist with a First-Class Honours degree in Music Performance and Professional Practice, and over 27 years of experience playing the piano. I’m also a qualified primary school teacher who specialised in Early Years education, and I’ve carried out master’s research on puppetry and children’s emotional development. Alongside my teaching work, I’ve supported older adults and those with additional needs through interactive music-making, and seen first-hand how powerful music can be for well-being at every age.
I’ve been fortunate to perform in some truly special places — from a château in the South of France to an Elizabethan mansion in the Yorkshire countryside — but nothing brings me more joy than sharing music within my local community.
My passion for this work began many years ago while visiting my Nana in her care home. Even when she could no longer remember names or faces, she could still sing every word of her favourite songs. Seeing how music reached her in ways words no longer could was life-changing, and it continues to inspire everything I do today.
Now, as a mum of two (ages 6 and 4), I see every day how music can calm, connect, and inspire. Once Upon a Tune brings together all of my experience — musical, educational, and personal — to create uplifting, inclusive sessions that bring joy through the power of music.
Our Story – Once Upon a Tune
At Once Upon a Tune, I believe that music is one of life’s greatest connectors. Whether it’s a familiar melody sparking a smile, or a child’s eyes lighting up at the sound of the piano, music has a beautiful way of bringing people together — across generations, abilities, and experiences.
Each session combines live classical piano with interactive music-making — from singalongs and rhythm games to instrument exploration, colourful props, and sensory activities — creating experiences that are engaging, inclusive, and uplifting.
I work with care homes, adult day centres, early years settings, schools, and assisted living, tailoring every visit to celebrate creativity, encourage participation, and nurture well-being through the joy of shared music. Browse the website to find out more about what I bring to each setting.
Sharing music with others truly is one of my favourite things to do, and I can’t wait to bring that joy to your setting too.
